Digital Media Expo
Friday, April 16th, 2010, 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
NAIT HP Centre (Bytes Cafeteria). 10504 Princess Elizabeth Avenue, Edmonton.
Greetings Digital Media Professionals,
You and your colleagues are cordially invited to attend the 4th annual NAIT Digital Media Expo on Friday, April 16th, 2010 in the NAIT HP Centre (Bytes Cafeteria). Drop by anytime between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. to take part in this casual meet & greet event.

Graduating students from our Digital Media Design program will be showcasing their work, and you may find several of your colleagues from various media industries also in attendance. This is the fourth year that we have successfully run this event, and we are confident of a large turnout again this year. There will be complimentary finger-foods and beverages. Wireless internet will also be available should you wish to bring a laptop. There is no charge to attend.
If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Melanie BenDiaf by April 1. Last minute drop-ins are also welcome.
For your convenience, we are providing free print-friendly PDF parking passes accompanied with a complete campus map.
No Co-ops This Year
For those industry partners that have previously attended, you may remember that in previous years students were seeking industry placements for their 4th semester 16-week co-op. Our program no longer has the 4th semester co-op. The 4th semester is now an additional academic semester with a strong focus on business communications and project work. Thus, this yearŐs graduates will be finished the program as of April 30. Most of them are seeking contacts for full-time and contract based employment. Accordingly, we did not have an EXPO at the beginning of December as we have in the past, but instead are having it in the spring.
Accordingly, this year's graduates will have completed the entire program as of April 30, 2010. Most of which are seeking contacts for full-time and contract based employment.
Last Year for this Program
The School of Applied Media and Information Technology has recently created a new program called Digital Media and I.T. (DMIT). This has been created from the merger of our Digital Media Design (DMD) program and the Computer Systems Technology (CST) program. DMIT started enrolling students this past September 2009.
The Digital Media EXPO is being hosted by the 2010 graduating class of DMD. Of the students who started in 2008, we have 65 graduating students.
NAIT Digital Media Design: 2-Year Diploma Program
This is the fourth cycle of graduates from our 2-year diploma program and we are very excited by the students' accomplishments. Perhaps the most successful aspect has been the 2nd year specializations that the students are now completing. The six specialization areas are:
- Advanced Web Design & Development
- Advanced Flash Development
- Video Studio
- 3D Animation
- Advanced Applied Graphic Design
- Game Design
Our program has been running since 1999, and we are very happy to see the success that many of our former students have had in the local media industry. Our students and staff are excited about this event, so come on down, see our work, chat with some colleagues, and have a cup of coffee. This may very well be our last Digital Media EXPO...ever!
Many thanks and we hope to see you there.
