Entrance Requirements
Student selection is competitive, based on criteria that may exceed the guidelines and prerequisites laid out in the NAIT calendar or application form. A high school diploma is not required, however, specific subject requirements must be met including Grade 12 English), plus Pure Math 20 or Applied Math 20.
Subsequent to NAIT receiving an application, applicants will be contacted to attend an interview session during which they will meet with members of the instructional staff.
Each applicant is asked to present material at that time which best supports their claim of wanting to be in the industry.
This is generally comprised of a visual portfolio which may include:
- Traditional art work
- Sketches
- Paintings
- Sculptures
- Illustration
- Photography
- Video (best to bring a DVD, NOT a VHS tape)
- Web Site(s)
- CD-based work
- Other creative works. If not sure, please contact us to ask.
If an applicant does not have any of the above to present, we will consider an applicant that shows a strong desire to learn. In such a case, we recommend an applicant present a Powerpoint presentation or other such creative work that they prepare specifically for their interview.
